Body core, advantages of comprehensive training

Working the entire body with a single type of physical activity is a dream for many people although, today, there are already very complete disciplines that seek to maximize the effort of all those who put in the hard work. And the excess of obligations and the lack of free time force us to develop comprehensive activities that combine the maximum number of exercises possible along with the work of the greatest number of muscles to, in this way, achieve a 10 body in less time.

One of these multitasking activities is Body Core , a sports modality that, despite its name in English, was not devised in the cradle of the new sports disciplines, the United States. On this occasion, its creator was the Spanish Jesús Rivilla, doctor and professor at the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences (INEF) of the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

In less than five years, Body Core has already become popular among Spanish trainers and, little by little, the number of gyms that offer it in their activity program is increasing . The success of Body Core lies in its perfect combination of both typical strength exercises and purely functional ones, which aim to give meaning or functionality to this work on the muscles. Thus, this sports modality includes weight lifting exercises to strengthen the muscles, along with functional training that includes global movements, normally performed with a load to further enhance muscle strength.

To do this, the Body Core, which has a portfolio of more than 300 different exercises , mainly works the central part of the body, what is known as core , the core of the body, which includes the abdominal muscles, the lower back and the muscles of the pelvis, although it is not only limited to this specific area, since it involves the muscles of the rest of the body. The core is the abdominal-dorsal-lumbar belt, although some authors also consider the entire body except the arms and legs to be part of the core .

Be that as it may, functional movements depend mainly on this central part of the body, so its good development ensures the ability to function optimally in our daily life (not only in the gym room) and, in turn, reduce the risk of injury. Hence, these muscles are worked to provide stability and support for the body during movement and daily activities.

Having a strong and well-developed core is important for posture, stability and prevention of lower back injuries. Exercises that work the body core muscles can include sit-ups, curls, planks, weight lifting, and balance and stability exercises. Below we detail them and see how they are carried out and how they benefit you.
